This will keep the seed spores or "cattail fluff" intact so that you can store it with your gear without making a mess. "Cattail fluff" is a great tinder to start your fire. One cattail pod lasts a long time and will start many fires.How I use cattail fluff to start a fire:Take off a pinch or two of cattail fluff from the pod. Place it under some fine tinder then ignite it with a ferrocerium rod. The fluff will immediately catch on fire and will ignite the fine tinder that is above it.
