TIPS: How to use a fleshing knife: The fleshing tool can be used as is, with the smaller end for fleshing hard to get at areas of small fur bearers, while the larger end is designed for more general work. To use as a dry scraper, increase the bevel on the wide end using the sharpening card and haft onto a handle at a 70 degree angle with a secure lashing. Alternatively, it can be hung from the hole to use as a fishing lure. The wet scraper/saw is meant to be used with a wooden handle to flesh and scrape hides over a rounded beam. To use, find and cut a green branch roughly 18" long and comfortable to hold. Cut or saw a slit lengthwise in the middle the length of the scraper blade and set the scraper into it with the saw side in and scraper side out. The holes can be used to remove the blade from the handle after using, or for attaching a wooden handle to one or both sides to use for sawing or alternative handles, but note that the scraper is more likely to flex with use with this type of handle. The awl is meant to be used for sewing with leather lacing (thong). It can be used as is or set into a handle. Simply bore a hole into a small piece of rounded wood and drive the back end of the awl into it. The J hook needles are a favorite of Woniya's for sewing leather with needle and thread, far easier to hold than straight needles once you get the hand of them, while the straight needles are great for fabric sewing or repairs.
