This beautifully crafted and unique fire starter fero rod was made by a small art boutique based out of the UK. The details on this particular piece are directly from the maker's original listing and read as follows: This is a quirky unique Fire-steel hand crafted from the lush exotic metal DS95X Blue-tongue Damasteel and Brass; based on a 762 cartridge design. DIMENSIONS: Overall Length - 73.5mm/2.89in Grip Length - 26mm/1.02in Diameter widest point - 12mm/0.47in Rod length - 40mm/1.57in Rod diameter - 6mm/0.23in This piece comes complete with a spare ferrocerium rod. We have lovingly profiled the entirety of this Fire-steel on a manual lathe, then subjected it to an extensive hand sanding process through progressively finer grits. We have etched the Damasteel bullet to expose the lush swirls across the different alloys of stainless steel, heat treated the etched alloy to black tones and then highly polish the unetched alloy to make the pattern really pop. We have finished the Brass casing with a neat little detail of a dummy primer consisting of Copper and Damasteel. It is fitted with a 6x40mm replaceable ferrocerium rod (Simply heat to remove used rod and apply hot melt glue to new rod to replace). All our metal art EDC pieces have been proficiently hand crafted on a traditional manually operated lathe - sadly a rapidly dying out trade. As such, our work portrays the craftsmanship that is of the highest quality, achieved only through much obsessive time and attention to detail at every stage of a project, a passion for creativity and love for manual lathe work!
