This ferro rod feels good in your hand, use your favorite striker to scrape showers of sparks to easily start your fire. It measures 6 inches long and 3/8" in diameter. Use a piece of metal that is harder than the ferro rod. The piece of metal must have a 90 degree edge, a piece of hack saw blade, the back of your bushcraft knife will do the job. The ferro rod has a black protective coating that must be removed before starting your fire.

If you have never used a ferro rod before, practice lighting cotton balls. Use diferrent tinders from your area to see what works best for you. Fatwood is one of my favorite tinders.

Handmade Black Micarta 3/8″ Ferrocerium Rod
100% Handmade in the USA. Hand crafted in our Arizona based shop because there needed to be a superior alternative to: plastic handles breaking, lanyard holes wearing down because they had no metal lining, and ferro rods coming loose from the handle on strikers. Bushcraft Supply’s ferro rods are reliable and will give you thousands of strikes. Handle is Black Micarta with a stainless steel lanyard hole. The micarta handle is unparalleled in conditions compromised by moisture and is unmatched in durability. Rod is 3/8" in diameter giving more striking surface area than most other ferro rods on the market. Overall length is approximately 5" with a 3" striking surface. These measurements may vary somewhat due to their handmade nature. Bushcraft Supply’s exclusive design includes grooves carved into the base of the rod itself, strengthening the attachment to the handle that is secured with 2 ton epoxy. It is highly unlikely that the rod will ever pull out of the handle due to the increased surface area for adhesion created by this process.
