Firesteel 762 Cartridge Design – Damasteel & Brass – Handmade
This beautifully crafted and unique fire starter fero rod was made by a small art boutique based out of the UK. The details on this particular piece are directly from the maker's original listing and read as follows: This is a quirky unique Fire-steel hand crafted from the lush exotic metal DS95X Blue-tongue Damasteel and Brass; based on a 762 cartridge design. DIMENSIONS: Overall Length - 73.5mm/2.89in Grip Length - 26mm/1.02in Diameter widest point - 12mm/0.47in Rod length - 40mm/1.57in Rod diameter - 6mm/0.23in This piece comes complete with a spare ferrocerium rod. We have lovingly profiled the entirety of this Fire-steel on a manual lathe, then subjected it to an extensive hand sanding process through progressively finer grits. We have etched the Damasteel bullet to expose the lush swirls across the different alloys of stainless steel, heat treated the etched alloy to black tones and then highly polish the unetched alloy to make the pattern really pop. We have finished the Brass casing with a neat little detail of a dummy primer consisting of Copper and Damasteel. It is fitted with a 6x40mm replaceable ferrocerium rod (Simply heat to remove used rod and apply hot melt glue to new rod to replace). All our metal art EDC pieces have been proficiently hand crafted on a traditional manually operated lathe - sadly a rapidly dying out trade. As such, our work portrays the craftsmanship that is of the highest quality, achieved only through much obsessive time and attention to detail at every stage of a project, a passion for creativity and love for manual lathe work! Lightweight Brass Striker Flint Wheel Fire Stater | Inc: x2 Char Cloth x1 Flint
We are pleased to finally get our hands on these new Brass Striker Wheels! These striker wheels make a great backup fire starter, they fit places larger Ferro Rods and lighters won't and are easily attached to necklace chains, keyrings, and small survival kit tins. This striker wheel also includes a key loop. The striker wheels use a similar mechanism as in most flint lighters, such as the Zippo lighter, but without the wick and case. The flints can be replaced and adjusted by tightening the internal spring. We have included a two spare flints and two pieces of char cloth. These striker wheels are extremely small, and don't produce the same size sparks as a larger Ferro Rod. But with proper preparation, and some good tinder they won't fail you getting a fire started! Like Ferro Rods, they will also work when wet and will ignite hundreds of fires. When using the striker wheels we reccomend using char cloth. Char cloth is easily made by slowly burning cotton fabric in a low-oxygen environment such as a tin, producing a charred material. Char cloth catches sparks especially easily and burns extremely hot at around 180-200 degrees.
