Jute Fire Tinder, Nesting Material Great for making fire with charcloth, bow drill, hand drill, flint & steel, ferrocerium rod, etc. 15 ft. jute, thick and made of four strands from 100% jute fiber! Excellent tinder and nesting material. Jute is a long, soft, shiny vegetable fiber that can be spun into coarse, strong threads to make twine and rope. It is great to use as a nesting material to start a fire using an ember from char cloth, char rope, bow drill, hand drill, fire piston, flint and steel, etc. The nest that you see on the photos is made from 6 inches of jute rope. Jute is also a great fire tinder and catches easily on fire when used with a ferrocerium rod or fire steel to ignite it. Jute fiber is 100% bio-degradable and recyclable and thus environmentally friendly. I have coiled and bundled the 15 ft. jute in such a way that you can pull one end of the rope to get the length that you need.
